COLOURS from AFRICA

This week is very exciting for me, I officially launch my new yarn clubs for 2013, I have been working on them for a while and came up with a few very exciting concepts.

The first one is my COLOURS from AFRICA club. I'm sure you think I  misspelled 'colours', but this is how we spell it here in South Africa. :)

So let me tell you about the club,

This club is being dyed exclusively for international customers, because us in Africa  experience its vast beauty daily. This club is my way of sharing the local wonders with the rest of the world.

Africa is so much more than the generic 'big 5 theme'. We have the most beautiful lands with striking sunsets, we have exquisite coral reefs with abundant sea life, we have wonderful traditions that are carried with pride by the people, we have birds that shimmer in the sun, and yes, we do have incredible wild life.

I plan to capture the beauty colours of Africa in self striping or gradient dyed yarns.
Self stripe yarns -colours knit up into stripes that only repeat after 40-50 yards. An example of this can be seen in the sunset banner
Gradient yarns - colours slowly shift from one colour to the next over a 40- 50 yard skein. An example of this can be seen in the green namaqualand fields banner.

Only homegrown and South African produced yarns from my range will be used and club members can choose either lace weight or sock weight . Yardage for each will be over 490m 492 yards [ sock wool: 145 - 150 grams , Lace weight: 90 - 100grams
Each colourway costs USD 36 -postage included. This club is offered with  semi solid co-ordinating yarn at an additional cost of USD 17 per ball. The additional ball is 330meters and gives you the opportunity to make a bigger project with colour work.

The yarns will be released: 1 January, 1 April, 7 July, and 6 October

In this club advanced and complicated dyeing techniques are used to create wonderfully striking colourways. I hope that you will enjoy knitting with them as much as I enjoy planning and dyeing it.

If you are keen to join this club, then come on over and holler me please over here

Happy knitting
